CHEROKEE CO., S.C. (WSPA) – The SC Sheriff’s Association has selected Cherokee Co.’s Steve Mueller as Sheriff of the Year.
They say he was nominated by Spartanburg Co. Sheriff Chuck Wright.
They says the panelists were impressed by the tremendous strides Cherokee County has made in recent years and the many community programs Sheriff Mueller has initiated since being elected Sheriff in 2010.
Sergeant Mary Frantz of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office was selected as the 2016 SC Sheriffs’ Association’s Deputy of the Year.
Detention Deputy First Class Michael A. Walters of the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has been selected as the 2016 SC Sheriffs’ Association’s Detention Officer of the Year. This is the inaugural year for the Detention Officer of the Year Award.
All three of these awards will be presented at the Awards Banquet during the 2016 SC Sheriffs’ Association Annual Conference on Monday, July 11, 2016.
All award winners were chosen by an anonymous panel of non-law enforcement officers.
