Gaffney-Former NFL wide receiver and safety Mike Furrey was introduced as Limestone College’s new head football coach Wednesday morning.
Furrey becomes the four-year-old program’s second head coach following the abrupt departure of Bobby James during the winter.
Furrey comes to Limestone from Marshall, where he was wide receivers coach the past three seasons. Prior to that he served as head coach at Kentucky Christian for two years, leading his first team there in 2011 team to a 7-4 record after it had gone 0-11 the prior season.
According to his bio as a player, he had the novelty of leading a team in interceptions one season (Rams, 2005) and another team in receptions in another (Lions, 2006) during his eight-year career, which also included stints with the Browns and Redskins.
