GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA)- A man pleaded guilty to killing his former Greenville County teacher in court, Wednesday.
Investigators found Laurie Patton’s body inside a motel room at the Quality Inn on South Pleasantburg Drive in 2014.
Prosecutors say Darrin Eskew admitted to strangling Patton and setting her hotel room on fire.
In court, Eskew says he’s a diagnosed schizophrenic and he has gotten treatment since being in jail.
He’s charged with Murder, Arson and Grand Larceny. He has been sentenced 31 years in prison.
Eskew was a former student of Patton’s at Berea Middle School.
