The National Letter Carriers Association with the US Postal Service will collect food for the hungry in the Upstate on Saturday May 14th.

Letter carriers will pass out post card reminders before the weekend to remind you to pick up a few non perishable food items to leave in bags that mail carriers will drop off with your mail.

The bags are made by Publix and since SC started using the bags about 7 years ago, donations have doubled.

USPS carriers ask that you leave the bag with your donations inside with your outgoing mail or near your mail receptacle on Saturday morning.

If you cannot leave the bag on Saturday, you can do it in the days leading up to the 14th.

In 2015 the NLCA said more than 71 million pounds of food was collected in South Carolina.

“Stamp Out Hunger” is the largest, single day food drive in the nation.
