Super 8 robbed in Greer, clerk assaulted, suspects on the loose

GREER, SC (WSPA) – A clerk was struck in the head with a gun during a robbery at the Super 8 motel in Greer early Wednesday morning, two suspects on the loose.

According to the incident report, two men with their faces covered entered the motel on Highway 101 around 1:48am. One of the men grabbed the clerk and demanded money. The report says that they threatened to kill the man and hit him in the back of the head with a gun after becoming angry that he could not open the safe.

The victim told police that a customer rang the bell at the counter during the robbery but the two men forced him to yell to the customer that they were closed. After being unable to open the safe, the two men grabbed the cash drawer from the register, jumped the counter, and left the motel.

K-9 officers searched the area for the two men but were unable to find them. The victim was taken to the hospital for a minor injury to his head.

The victim described the two men:

Black man, 6’0″ to 6’2″ wearing a black hooded sweatshirt tied over his face, wearing basketball shorts and armed with a handgun.
Black man 5’10” to 5’11” wearing gray hooded sweatshirt with blue bandanna wrapped around his face, wearing basketball shorts and armed with a shotgun.
