BOILING SPRINGS, SC (WSPA)- Two suspects were taken in custody after a chase involving a stolen vehicle in Spartanburg County.
The incident happened Wednesday night and ended at the Brianna Drive and Old Furnace Road intersection in Boiling Springs.
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputies say they initially tried to pull over the vehicle in reference to a disturbance call. After the driver, Kevin Edward Poole, 34, sped up and headed towards Hearon Circle on Asheville Hwy to enter the ramp for the northbound lane of Business 85; stop sticks were used.
Poole was placed under arrest for Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Possession of Stolen Property.
His passenger, Shelby Neely, 18, was also placed under arrest for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle after deputies say she admitted on camera that she knew the vehicle was stolen.
Deputies also say a white substance was found in Neely’s backpack. The substance tested negative for methamphetamine and was submitted to the evidence department at Spartanburg County Sheriff’s office for further testing.
Neely was planning to resell the substance after she found out it wasn’t methamphetamine, reports say. She also was attempting to sell the stolen vehicle for drug money, according to reports.
Poole is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a $16,000 bond. Neely is held on a $5,000 bond.
