ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The man wanted in the Anderson Co. manhunt has been captured.
23-year-old Matthew Scott Hafler, of Piedmont, has been charged with Reckless Driving, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Stop for Blue Light, Resisting Arrest, and Assault of a Police Officer While Resisting Arrest.
Anderson County Sheriff’s office says they responded to the reports of a stolen vehicle, Thursday morning.
Deputies found the vehicle on Highway 81 and Hafler didn’t stop until he hit a guard rail near Campbell Road and Smith Road.
He then ran away and deputies used K-9s and a helicopter to search the area.
Hafler was treated by EMS for scrapes.
Spearman Elementary School in Piedmont had been placed on lockdown as a precaution.
They are now off lockdown.
