“Operation Kick-off to Summer” netted 21 arrests according to Union Co. Sheriff Taylor.
The operation started when Union County, Chester County and SLED conducted a search warrant for drugs at 460 Sonoco Road in Union County. Upon entry, the officers located Tiffany Kershaw, Walter Spencer, and Shaquelle Barber along with another female and a small child.
They say everyone was secured and the residence was searched.
During the search of Shaquelle Barber and his bedroom, Narcotics Officers recovered a quantity of marijuana and seized a Nike shoebox which contained $34,833.00 in cash, according to deputies.
Deputies say Barber in unemployed and told them about a quantity of marijuana in a rental truck in the yard and deputies seized the dope.
Narcotics officers seized a Springfield .45 caliber from Walter Spencer who is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Officers say they seized a quantity of marijuana from the bedroom that is shared by Spencer and Kershaw.
Officers say they also seized $522.00 cash from Walter Spencer, who is also unemployed.
Deputies also arrested Kershaw and charged her with possession of marijuana.
In all, a quantity of marijuana, $35,355.00 cash, digital scales and a firearm were seized from the house and truck.
Officers started the roundup after the search was completed.
Sheriff Taylor says 21 of the 28 people have been arrested on 46 drug related charges.
Sheriff Taylor says this is a continuing effort to fight the drug problem in Union County.
He says nearly half of these arrested in this round-up are unemployed and it is not because there are no jobs available in Union County.
Sheriff Taylor went on to say that there have been several deaths that may be linked to drug overdoses, pending toxicology results to confirm those deaths.
He says these arrests may help to aid in the prevention of future deaths.
