Michelin plans to build a tire distribution facility along HWY 101 from the intersection of Brockman Rd. and HWY 417, according to the Spartanburg County Council.
They plan to hire about 350 new full-time employees.
The Fees in Lieu of Taxes agreement between the county and Michelin passed its second reading on Monday, May 16.
The third and final reading will be on June 20.
There will be a fixed mileage rate set for 30 years once the 3rd and final reading is over, according to Chairman David Britt.
Michelin will spend about $332 million on the project.
According to the Council, benefits for the county include sewer lines along HWY 101 to help bring new industrial, commercial and residential properties to the area.
HWY 101 is an area the county is focusing on for new growth, says Britt.
