SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA)- A man driving a 1994 ice cream van has been charged after he hit a cyclist on Asheville Highway, Monday night.
The incident happened around 10 PM.
James Thomas Barnett, 59, of Glendale, was traveling east on Asheville Highway, near Highway 56 in Spartanburg County, when his van hit a 29-year-old cyclist from Boiling Springs, according to Cpl. Bill Rhyne of SC Highway Patrol.
The victim was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Barnett was arrested Tuesday night and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and driving with an improper tag and driving with an expired tag.
