Suspected robber’s hand slammed in cash drawer in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG (WSPA) Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for help to identify a man they say robbed a convenience store earlier this month.

The man in the photos released by investigators is accused of robbing the Lil Cricket on Fairforest Road around 5:45 p.m. on May 9. Deputies say the man brought some items to the store clerk to purchase, but he tried to grab money from the cash register when it opened.

The clerk slammed the man’s hand in the drawer, but he claimed to be armed. He was able to grab some money and leave the store.

He was described as a black man in his 30’s, about 6’0″ tall with short hair and some facial hair. He was wearing a dark colored shirt, gray shots, a tan baseball cap and sunglasses at the time of the robbery.
