Police chase in Walhalla Friday morning, man charged

WAALHALLA, SC (WSPA)- A man has been arrested on multiple charges after an early morning chase, Friday.

Dennis Ralph Roberts, Jr., 42, of Fair Play, has been placed on a Temporary Custody Order on charges of Failure to stop for a Blue Light as well as Domestic Violence. He was charged in traffic tickets with Driving under the Influence and a Vehicle with a Missing/Incorrectly Displayed tag.

Deputies say a domestic disturbance was reported after a woman said Roberts verbally and physically assaulted her at a home on Tugaloo Heights Circle. She was having dinner with Roberts before he reportedly pulled out a knife on her.

Deputies did their initial investigation into the incident and left, but they were called again to the home later on, according to reports.

Roberts got into his car and drove away when deputies arrived a second time; leading deputies on a chase.

Deputies caught Roberts on Rock Ages Rd., a dead end road.

Deputies say Roberts refused to take a breathalyzer test at the detention center.

Roberts has outstanding warrants from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Simpsonville Police Department.

A hold has been placed on Robert by both agencies.
