COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Officials are looking for an inmate who escaped from a Columbia prison.
Multiple media outlets reported that 24-year-old Catrell Davis escaped from Walden Correctional Institution around 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the inmate had been spotted with a woman. Deputies said the inmate and woman are thought to have left the area after releasing another woman and her child from a car.
Foster said woman and her child did not know until later that the man had escaped from prison.
Davis and his accomplice are thought to be driving a grey Hyundai hatchback and were last seen driving toward Fairfield County.
Davis had been in prison since 2012, serving an eight year sentence for aggravated assault and battery.
