GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA)- The Salvation Army of Greenville teamed up with The Doughnut Experiment, a local boutique doughnut shop, and Krispy Kreme (Woodruff Road and Pleasantburg Locations) to celebrate National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 3rd.
National Doughnut Day is every first Friday of June and it was established by The Salvation Army in 1938 to hour the Salvation Army’s “Doughnut Lassies” who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. The “Doughnut Lassies” are often credited with popularizing the doughnut in the United States when the troops returned home from war.
A percentage of sales will go towards The Salvation Army’s Social Ministries programs. The doughnut shop will be distributing “mystery boxes,” with coupons randomly placed in doughnut boxes. The Salvation Army’s Captain Kettle mascot will also make a visit to the shop from 9-11AM to greet young doughnut lovers.
You can also get other doughnut deals:
- Just walk into any Krispy Kreme store and get a powdered, glazed or filled doughnut of any variety
- If you buy a beverage at Dunkin Donuts, you can get a free donut
