GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A man has been arrested after police said he killed his roommate with a ceramic water pitcher during a fight when the two had been drinking and “smoking crack.”
Walter Smith Jr., 44, of Hanover, is charged with homicide in the death of Mitchell Jones, 44, Saturday night in Conewago Township, Adams County.
Police responded to a home on Chapel Road around 10:30 p.m. Saturday and found the victim’s head wrapped in a trash bag in a pool of blood. Court documents stated that a ceramic water pitcher was found broken next to the body.
Smith drove to a friend’s home, confessed to the killing, and said that he and Jones were smoking crack together. The friends contacted police.
Smith later told officers, “I’m drunk as [expletive] and have been drunk all day,” “At least he fought like a man,” and “Life got wrong real quick,” according to court documents.
