BLACKSBURG, SC (WSPA)- A man with a long handle hatchet hurt five people Wednesday, according to Cherokee Co. deputies.
Deputies say the incident happened just before 4 a.m. at 832 South Charleston Street in Blacksburg.
Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said deputies arrived at the location and found four people with visible injuries and another injured at a home next door.
Everyone injured was taken to receive treatment or treated on the scene.
Investigators went to the scene to look for evidence and found a long handle hatchet. Deputies believe it was one of the weapons involved in a fight there.
Deputies believe the fight happened after an assault took place involving several other people on scene.
They said several other people were called on the phone and came to the scene. Deputies said that’s when another fight took place.
Deputies count nine people involved in the incident with one being a juvenile.
The Sheriff said this was not a random act, that everyone involved knew each other and the public is not at risk.
No one has been arrested, deputies say.
If you have any information, deputies ask that you call Investigator Ted Suppiger at the Sheriff’s Office at 864-489-4722 Ext 117 or the Cherokee Co anonymous tip line at 1-888-274-6372 or 1-888 CRIMESC.
