Man on meth with knives asks to be shot say Union Co. deputies

JONESVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Union Co, deputies say a man was wielding knives, admitted to using meth and asked to be shot and killed because the federal government was investigating him on molesting children.

Deputies were called to a trailer park on Vaughan Rd. in Jonesville just before 8 a.m. Thursday about a suspicious person.

Witnesses told deputies they saw a man run behind a trailer with two knives in his hands.

While deputies were waiting for a K9 Unit to get to the scene, they saw Tyler Blake Lawson, 32, run out of the woods behind the trailer, wielding a large knife in each hand.

They say Lawson asked for deputies to shoot and kill him.

Lawson said he was under investigation by the federal government for molesting kids.

Deputies say he told them they would have to kill him for before he went back to prison for 25 years for something he didn’t do.

Deputies say he also admitted to using methamphetamine the night before.

Deputies continued to try and talk him into putting down the knives.

Lawson finally dropped the knives after deputies used a taser on him, according to the report.

Deputies says they called in EMS due to self-inflicted cuts on Lawson’s arm.

He was taken to Union Medical Center and will be charged with Disorderly Conduct.
