GREENVILLE COUNTY (WSPA) An arrest has been made four days after a hit-and-run accident on I-85 that left a motorcycle driver dead.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Anthony Shearn, 25, of Greenville was arrested around 6:30 a.m. Friday in an area near where the incident happened on June 13.
Damian Taylor, 37, died of blunt force trauma after his motorcycle was sideswiped along I-85 near the 48 mile marker. That’s close to the Laurens Road interchange.
Taylor was on his way to work in Anderson when the accident happened. The driver never stopped.
Shearn was driving a 2013 Kia Forte near the Laurens Road interchange when he was stopped Friday morning. That vehicle matched a description of what the suspect in the deadly crash was driving.
Taylor was traveling to work that morning on the motorcycle because his car wouldn’t start according to his mother. “I couldn’t believe someone would hit my baby and leave him on the side of the road and just keep going,” said Terrie Toennesman, “I just can’t believe it.”
Shearn has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death and an improper lane change. He was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center.
