SPARTANBURG COUNTY (WSPA) – A Spartanburg teen is accused of hitting another person with a vehicle after an argument allegedly took a violent turn.
17-year-old Dykem Beatty Laney has been charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Friends of the victim drove him to Spartanburg Medical Center after the alleged assault on Wednesday.
The teenage victim said he and Laney met to settle a disagreement and fight, according to investigative reports.
The victim said they argued and that Laney took brass knuckles out of his pocket and began threatening him before getting into a car, accelerating and hitting him with the vehicle, the report states.
The victim claimed he landed on the hood of the vehicle, and Laney left the scene.
The deputy noted in a report that the victim suffered several cuts to his arms and legs that hospital personnel advised were not serious injuries, the report states.
Laney was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on Thursday and released Friday, according to online jail records.
