LYMAN, SC (WSPA) – After a shooting at a Lyman bar left four people injured, neighbors are calling for the bar to be shut down for good.
Spartanburg County deputies say Jody Ray Thompson open fired into a crowd outside Playoffz Bar and Grill, hitting and injuring three people.
Thompson is charged with four counts of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
Elizabeth Hogue lives next door to Playoffz, and says she’s had to call the police on multiple occasions for noise violations and other disturbances.
“I just want it gone. I’d rather see a legitimate business be put in there that can add something to the community rather than take away from it,” she says.
She’s gone to the Lyman Mayor and Town Clerk hoping there is some resolution before another serious crime happens near her backyard.
The Lyman Town Clerk said in a statement: “Officials are looking into what action can be taken in reference to the shooting incident from this weekend, and how this will impact the future of Playoffz Bar and Grill.
She also said this will be discussed at the next town hall meeting on July 11th.
