CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – Charleston County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a hit-and-run that killed two teens who were riding skateboards.
Maj. Eric Watson said Monday the accident happened about 10 p.m. Saturday in the community of Hollywood about 20 miles west of Charleston.
Deputy Coroner Sara Senn tells local media outlets that the victims were 16-year-old Deandre Richardson and 15-year-old Leonardo Suarez-Perez both of Summerville. They died at the scene.
Watson says the two were riding skateboards along state Highway 162 when they were struck by a Jeep that was trying to pass another vehicle and the driver sped away. The vehicle was later found abandoned nearby and the owner reported it stolen to the Charleston police.
No arrests have been made.
