(WSPA)- This year is supposed to be the highest 4th of July travel on record, according to the Highway Patrol.
Nearly 43 million people across the country are expected to hit the road.
Troopers are asking everyone to slow down.
In North Carolina, highway patrol says it investigated 12 deadly crashes and nearly 300 accidents that ended up with people hurt over the 4th of July weekend last year.
They say a few of those were caused by drunk drivers.
They warn troopers will be out and they’ll be targeting drivers who they see driving erratically or even being too aggressive on the roads.
You can always call “STAR 47” to report an accident to a highway patrol trooper.
