CHARLESTON, SC (WSPA) – Two sea turtles have been returned back into the Atlantic Ocean after being treated by the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Rescue Program.

The South Carolina Aquarium says that Lady, a large female loggerhead sea turtle, was found last summer and underwent surgery to remove cataracts.

The aquarium also says that Forest, a juvenile green sea turtle, was found at Forest Beach on Hilton Head suffering from many wounds on the front and rear flippers, due to a shark attack.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission assisted in the turtle release.

According to the South Carolina Aquarium, the program has successfully treated and released 191 sea turtles.
