INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A shooting on the east side of Indianapolis on Saturday left two men dead and a 3-year-old hurt, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

IMPD says people were gathering at a home in the 2300 block of Magnolia Place following a funeral when gunshots rang out around 6:30 p.m.

32-year-old Justin Sims was pronounced dead at the scene. 26-year-old Dangelo Brown was rushed to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital but later died as a result of his injuries a few hours later.

A 3-year-old was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health for a gunshot wound to the hand. The child remains in the hospital in serious but stable condition, according to police.

According to witnesses, the victims were gathered outside of a residence and were in the process of celebrating the life of a recently deceased relative, whose funeral was earlier in the day.

Police said the gunman fled the scene on foot following the shooting.  A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined.
