SPARTANBURG (WSPA) – A Spartanburg woman was arrested after deputies say she drove with a suspended license and had two young children unrestrained in the car.
Whitney Cierra Scott, 30, was charged with driving under suspended second offense and a child restraint violation after deputies stopped her car Sunday morning at Zion Hill Road and Sloans Grove Road.
The deputy said Scott made an improper turn and was driving an Infiniti with a broken windshield that obstructed the driver’s view.
The incident report states there were two children – ages seven and between two and three – that were unrestrained in the back seat. There were no car seats in the vehicle according to the deputy.
Scott had a suspended driver’s license according to a S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles check because of unpaid parking tickets dating back to 2013. The deputy says Scott also had a conviction for driving under suspension from 2014.
Family members came to the scene to pick up the children.
Scott was released from the Spartanburg County Detention center around 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The deputy says she was also ticketed for an improper turn, a busted windshield and an improper tag.
