BLACKSBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A man has drowned at the Dravo dam at Broad River in Blacksburg, according to Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler.
Crews responded to a possible drowning around 9 p.m. Monday.
Carl Owens, Sr. was found at about 10:05 p.m., according to the coroner.
He says the man had been fishing with his son when he fell down a steep embankment.
Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
7News spoke with Owens’ son who was there when the drowning happened. He says this is not the first family tragedy he’s seen unfold.
