NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A shootout with police in North Charleston left two people, including a police officer, wounded.
On Tuesday morning, Officer Wayne Pavlischeck is recovering at the Medical University of South Carolina.
According to the police report, the suspect was trying to run people over with his car before firing shots at police.
North Charleston Police received the call around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, about a white car speeding through the Northwoods Estates neighborhood.
Officers arrived on scene and surrounded a house where the car was parked.
Soon after, police say the suspect came to a window on the second floor and began shooting at police.
North Charleston Police Deputy Chief says Officer Pavlischeck was wearing a bullet-proof vest.
The suspect then came out the front door, continuing to shoot at police.
He was shot by police and taken to Trident Hospital where he is recovering Tuesday morning.
