PICKENS CO., SC (WSPA) – A pregnant woman has died after she was hit by a man on bicycle while she was walking Friday, July 22.
Investigators say it happened around 9:45 p.m. on Mount Olivet Rd. near Weatherly in Six Mile.
Rose Higgins was pronounced brain dead on July 26.
The coroner says that’s the same as being pronounced dead in the coroner’s office definition.
A friend of the family says she’s still on life support at Greenville Memorial.
Her baby, Charissa, died at the hospital after an emergency C-section after the accident.
Deputies say she was walking with her boyfriend when it happened.
The Sheriff’s Office along with the SCHP determined at the scene that the incident was not indicative of any foul play and there was no evidence that the collision was intentionally motivated.
The Sheriff’s Office, along with the assistance from the SCHP, has continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision with preliminary findings that the collision was accidental in nature.
The investigation is still ongoing pending an autopsy of the victim to be scheduled by the Pickens County Coroner.
