ORANGE COUNTY, FL (WSPA) – A 22-year-old man from Simpsonville was killed early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car while crossing a road near Walt Disney World in Orlando.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Richard Kalata was attempting to cross State Road 535 when he was struck by a Ford being driven by a man from Eustis, Florida.
The driver left the scene of the accident around 3:30 a.m. He returned a short time later according to troopers saying he didn’t know what he hit.
The accident scene is on the other side of Interstate 4 from the theme park and resort.
Troopers say the victim crossed the road in a section that wasn’t a crosswalk or an intersection.
Charges are pending according to FHP troopers and the investigation continues.
