NEBO, NC (WSPA) – Two people are under arrest after a standoff in Nebo.
Deputies say William Kyle Lytle, 25, and Lacey Deanna Riddle, 27, went to a home on Harmony Grove Rd. on Saturday night to ask a person they knew for a place to spend the night.
They say the homeowner told them to leave his house and they wouldn’t.
Deputies say the suspects threatened to kill the homeowner so he locked himself in a bedroom and had no way out.
He called 911 around 5 a.m.
Deputies say they tried to get Lytle, who reportedly had a gun, to open the door.
Around 9:45 a.m. Sunday, after a 4 ½-hour standoff, members of the combined Sheriff’s Office and Marion Police Department SWAT team forcibly entered the Harmony Grove Road residence through a door, secured the scene and took control of the suspects.
They say a search of Riddle’s belongings turned up a small amount of methamphetamine.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges against Lytle and Riddle might be pending.
Both ends of Harmony Grove Road were blocked for hours during the standoff.
Lytle is charged with trespassing and resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer.
Riddle is charged with possession of methamphetamine. She was also taken into custody on an outstanding probation violation.
