A South Carolina soldier who lost his life while helping a woman who was being attacked is being remembered as a hero.
Sergeant Charles Judge was laid to rest Friday in Lyman. Judge was active in helping homeless veterans through the organization “Operation Stand Down.”
Kevin King, a friend of Judge’s, tells us he recently spoke to him about helping to plan the upcoming outreach effort in October.
“That’s just kind of shows you his character,” said Kevin King, a friend of Judge’s. “He was all about giving. He was all about ‘Stand Down.’ He was all about serving our country.”
The man accused of shooting and killing Judge and another soldier in that attack July 23 was denied bond. Judge’s family have asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to “Operation Stand Down” on his behalf.
