GREENWOOD, SC (WSPA) – Two former Greenwood County Drug Enforcement unit agents Brandon Strickland and Larry Robert Byrd have been indicted by a grand jury on misconduct and embezzlement charges.
They resigned in October 2015 after a SLED investigation.
Records show Larry Robert Byrd is currently employed at Ninety Six Police Department.
The indictments say the two committed common law misconduct in office by failing to properly account for and mishandling government funds.
The emblezzlement indictment says they took public funds designated for the sheriff’s office for their own personal use.
The funds were less than $10,000.
The were both released on a $15,000 personal recognizance bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
