GASTONIA, N.C. (WSPA) – 25-year-old William “Skip” McCullen is charged with first degree murder in the death of 3-year-old Jordan Ann Dumont, CBS-affiliate WBTV reports.
William is expect to appear in court Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
Dumont’s remains were found during a search for the missing girl, according to Gaston County Police, WBTV reports.
Authorities say Dumont’s body was not visible where it was found near the home on Bess Town Road, Tuesday morning, according to WBTV.
WBTV reports, after charges were brought against Dumont’s mom’s boyfriend, Skip McCullen, investigators say they believe Jordan’s death occurred within 24 to 36 hours of her body being found.
This incident wasn’t the first time police were called to Dumont’s home, WBTV reports. Officials say there has been 49 calls for service to that home in the past three years, with some of those calls being domestic-related incidents.
Detectives are investigating to see if Dumont’s mom, or someone else, had a role in the killing, WBTV reports.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and further charges could be forthcoming. I don’t know who or what those might be though,” Gaston County Police Chief told WBTV.
According to the incident report, Dumont was reported missing from her Bessemer City home around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Officials say McCullen, who was caring for the child, told police he last saw the girl around 1 p.m. and notified authorities when he realized she was missing.
