Emily’s Events: What’s happening Aug. 19-20

If you’re looking to try some new restaurants, you’ll have your chance this week and at a lower price! The eighth annual Foodie Fest kicked off yesterday and continues all week. Twenty of Greenville’s best restaurants will have discounted prix fixe menus. No tickets or passes are required but reservations are encouraged.

If you liked the movie Dirty Dancing, you’ll be happy to know that the Dirty Dancing Festival returns to Lake Lure starting Friday. The event starts at 4 and they’ll be showing the iconic movie at sunset. The first day wraps once the movie’s over. It will continue Saturday from 9AM until 5PM. They’ll have live beach bands, dance lessons and games. Tickets are $25 for adults and just $10 for kids under twelve.

Spittoono is happening this weekend. It began Thursday in Central. The three-day music festival hosting sixteen bands is in its 36th year. You can check it out Friday from 6 pm until 2AM and Saturday from 4PM until 2am. It will happen rain or shine and there’s no charge for admission. Pets are welcome, but no personal coolers. The proceeds benefit local charities.
