Man with machete struggles with police, pulls knife on officer

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – A man with a machete was arrested after police responded to a call of a suspicious man near the Meyer Center on Rutherford Road in Greenville.

Officers spotted the man, later identified as 56-year-old Lake Therin Lockaby, near a pool on Chick Springs Road. Police say there was a struggle when an officer attempted to get the machete from Lockaby.

Greenville police say the officer was able to get the machete, but then Lockaby pulled a knife. The officer backed away and drew his gun and ordered Lockaby to drop the knife.

Lockaby was taken into custody and charged with second degree Assault & Battery and Resisting Arrest with a Deadly Weapon.
