Norris Ridge Apt. shooting victim’s cause of death released

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – One person has died and three others were hurt after a shooting at Norris Ridge Apartments in Spartanburg Wednesday evening.

The coroner says Jamel Lydell Thompson died at the hospital. Police say two other victims were also shot and taken to the hospital.

The coroner says the cause of death as Internal Hemorrhage secondary to gunshot wound to the leg.

The death has been ruled a homicide.

According to Police, several of the men involved in the shooting left the scene in a gold Cadillac and arrived at Spartanburg Medical Center a short while later with two gunshot victims.

One victim was shot in the upper chest and another in the hands and abdomen.

The driver of the Cadillac, Marcus Terail Watkins, and Damaris Shasmond Hill were arrested due to their involvement in the shooting.

Hill and Watkins were both charged with Breach of Peace High and Aggravated, according to Spartanburg Police Department. Both were denied bond.

The two shooting victims remain in the hospital and their condition is not known at this time.
