App catches NC phone thief on phone’s camera, police say

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Jacksonville Police Department is asking for your help finding a suspect in a larceny case.

The woman is wanted for questioning involving theft of a cell phone in which the security features were turned on and the phone took a photo of the suspect, police said.

She is described as a white female wearing “gauge” earrings at the time of the larceny.

An app for Android phones, called Lockwatch, takes a stealth photo of a person and emails it to you when they try to unlock a phone with a wrong code. There are other similar apps available, such as Lookout.
