(WSPA)— Two teenagers died in a single-car crash Wednesday night in Anderson County.
Troopers say the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on True Temper Road, 3.3 miles of Anderson.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver ran through a stop sign, crossed Airline Road, and hit several trees.
The driver, Lenard Tanner, 18, of Anderson, did not have a driver’s license, only his driver’s permit, according to Anderson County Coroner Charlie Boseman.
Tanner was taken to the hospital, where he later died, Boseman says.
The passenger, Calvin Chester, 18, of Anderson, died at the scene and he wasn’t wearing a seat belt, according to Boseman.
Boseman will be running a test at the hospital to see if drugs or alcohol were in their systems at the time of the crash.
