Rescue crews help fallen hiker in Oconee Co. forest

OCONEE CO., SC (WSPA) – Crews in Oconee County rescued an injured hiker who fell on a trail near Lick Log Creek, Saturday afternoon.

A helicopter from McEntire Joint National Guard Base was used to lift the hiker out of the woods. Crews from Raburn County and Glenville Cashiers Rescue assisted in the rescue.

Someone hiking with the man was able to hike out of the woods and call for help around 4:30pm.

The hiker was flown to Oconee Hospital for his injuries.

50 volunteers assisted in the rescue.

Lick Log Creek is located near the Chattooga River.
