WESTMINSTER (WSPA) – A man has been charged with murder after a shooting in Westminster early Thursday morning.
Steven Gregory Brock, 50, was shot one time in the head around 1:30 a.m. at his home on Brock Road, according to the Oconee County coroner.
Deputies say the suspect R.L. Webb, 64, was arrested Thursday evening in Lavonia, Ga.
Webb checked in a motel just off Interstate 85 before he was taken into custody.
“The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens that called and provided tips that assisted the Sheriff’s Office in our investigation,” Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said in a statement. “We would also like to thank our law enforcement partners with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Lavonia Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of Mr. Webb.”
An autopsy on Brock’s body is scheduled for Friday.
Webb brought back to the Oconee Co Detention Center were he was denied bond Friday morning.
