IOWA (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids man and his twin sister celebrated their 100th birthday Sunday, something very few have ever experienced together.
24 Hour News 8 first introduced you to Ira Spieker, of Grand Rapids, and his sister Ida a week ago. The two grew up in Iowa.
Ira recently wrote a book, “From Iowa Soil through Atomic Bomb Debris to the Furniture City,” chronicling the century of memories and experiences he and his sister have.
Ira and his family traveled to Iowa this weekend to join Ida for a huge birthday celebration.
The twins cut their birthday cake using their first baby dishes they have kept for an entire century. Their christening gowns were also preserved all this time and put on display.
