SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Spartanburg Courthouse has released court assignments and an update on the HVAC and mold problem.
It’s the HVAC system that’s the big concern, not just because of the potential spread of mold throughout the building, but also the solution used to remove it.
“We’ve received multiple complaints in regards to feeling sick and ill while this work is going on, and that’s why they have been called in by myself and by the County Administrator in regards to seeing if we can accommodate and alleviate any of those fears,” Spartanburg County Clerk of Court, Hope Blackley, said.
Wallpaper was pulled back to expose more mold.
That sparked additional testing, a partial evacuation, and enlarged the scope of the clean-up plan.
They have met with JMAC Environmental LLC and OSHA. OSHA is testing the air quality for chemical and mold and the results will be given withing the next couple of weeks.
They are working with engineers to help contain the smell.
