GREER, SC (WSPA)- Law enforcement officers across the Upstate are coming together this weekend to help their brothers and sisters in blue.
The fifth annual Upstate Law Enforcement Memorial Softball Tournament starts Saturday and raises money for the families of fallen officers. The tournament partners with Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officers Fund, that helps the families of fallen officers nationwide.
The tournament started in 2011 after Deputy Roger Rice was killed in the line of duty. After Officer Allen Jacobs was murdered in March 2016, the funds raised were donated to his widow.
The tournament starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Century Park in Greer. The public is encouraged to attend the event, and support Upstate law enforcement.
There will be t-shirts, tournament memorablia and raffle prizes available to help raise money for the fund.
To donate to the fund, you can donate at the Greer Police Department, in person at the tournament, or online.
