BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A 17-month-old is recovering from dozens of bee stings that she got at daycare in Cornersburg on Wednesday.
She was stung on the playground of Zion Christian Early Learning Center on Canfield Road.
Pastor Duane Jesse, the daycare’s executive director, says that a swarm of bees came from underneath a playhouse.
He says that as soon as the staff member saw the little girl and another boy being attacked by the bees, they got the children out called for an emergency medical squad.
The boy was stung a few times and received treatment at the school, according to Jesse.
Three staff members were also stung, and two of them were treated at the hospital.
Jesse says the hive was treated Wednesday, but the playground closed on Thursday as a precaution.
The girl’s mother sent WKBN 27 First News photos of her injuries, showing marks covering her legs and face.
She is being treated at Akron Children’s hospital in Boardman.
