GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – A Tanglewood Middle School teacher was arrested after throwing books at a student, according to Greenville Co. Sheriff’s Office.
School Resource Officers have charged 26 year-old, Walter Anton Lee with Assault and Battery.
Deputies say on September 14, 2016, they were told about an incident that took place involving a middle school student being assaulted by his teacher at Tanglewood Middle School.
School Resource Officers say Lee threw three textbooks at his student, hitting the student twice; once in the face and once in shoulder.
Deputies determined that enough probable cause existed to charge Lee with Assault and Battery.
On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, Lee turned himself in to deputies without incident .
He was given a personal recognizance bond and his next court date is October 11.
Greenville Co. schools says Lee is no longer employed with the district. Lee had been a teacher at Tanglewood Middle since August 2012.
