ATLANTA, GA (WSPA)— Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo’s manager confirmed to CBS46 that the 40-year-old rapper was killed in a fiery crash, Wednesday.
The incident happened on Cascade Road near the I-285 SB ramp, CBS46 reports.
Investigators are saying the incident was a hit and run but they don’t have any information on the car that drove away, CBS46 reports.
Police say two cars were involved in the crash and one of the cars went over the guardrail and caught fire, CBS46 reports.
Shawty Lo, born Carlos Walker, lost control of his 2016 Audi, struck a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire, police say, according to CBS46.
Shawty Lo was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene, CBS46 reports.
Two women were also in the car with him and they were rushed to a nearby hospital, CBS46 reports.
Shawty Lo broke into the music business in 2003 as a member of the Atlanta based hip hop group D4L. The group is best known for hits, including “Laffy Taffy” and “Betcha Can’t Do it Like Me.”
He started his solo career in 2007 and produced hits including “Dey know,” “Foolish,” and “Dunn Dunn.”
