GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Activists took to the streets of Greenville to show their support for the protesters in Charlotte, just hours after Charlotte Police released video of the shooting of Keith Scott.
Freedom fighters held a peaceful protest outside of the Peace Center Saturday night.
They say they laid down and stayed quiet in unity for those demanding justice in the death of Scott. They also held photos of victims of unsolved crimes here in the upstate too.
“It didn’t take a lot of planning or strategy but it is something that makes a lot of noise and makes a major statement,” said Traci Fant, Freedom Fighters. “We have to focus on not only what is happening on a national level but also what is happening on a local level.”
Even though the footage of the deadly officer involved shooting has now been released, some local protesters still believe his death was the result of unnecessary violence.
“People need to come together and talk and we need to work through this,” Sarah Snyder said. “Because black lives matter and because this has happened time and time again.”
