BURNETTOWN, S.C. (WJBF) – A Burnettown police officer is recovering in the intensive care unit after trying to make an arrest last Sunday.
The Burnettown Police Department’s Facebook Page says Cpl. Goodwin was looking for a man who was breaking into cars and stealing items.
Investigators say Goodwin found the man and tried to arrest him, but the man resisted and seriously hurt the corporal in the process.
Goodwin had to have emergency surgery and will be out of work for 6 to 8 weeks.
The suspect was arrested following the incident.
The police department is asking everyone to keep Goodwin and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
