TRAVELERS REST, SC (WSPA) – Two people are dead after a shooting at a Greenville County hotel Tuesday night, according to Greenville police.
Deborah Atkins Winkler, 61, of Travelers Rest, was found in a room at the Hampton Inn with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Greenville County Coroner.
Glenn Jowett Winkler, 67, also had a gunshot wound to the head and was unconscious, but still breathing.
He died at the hospital and the coroner has ruled his death a suicide.
Travelers Rest Police Department says no other people were in the hotel room and both people were most likely willing participants in the shooting.
They say there is nothing that would lead the TRPD to file criminal charges against anyone.
The police chief says there is no threat to the public.
