SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – Sheriff’s deputies have charged a man in a shooting on Idlewood Court near Cannons Campground Road.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence call around 11:45 a.m. Friday.
Before officers arrived on scene, the call was upgraded to a shooting.
Deputies found a victim with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The shooting victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
It appears that an older couple got into a fight and a younger couple tried to intervene on behalf of the older female victim, deputies say. That’s when deputies say the suspect, identified as James Lee Sarratt Jr., 48, of Spartanburg pointed a gun at four people and shot a male.
Sarratt has been charged with attempted murder, high and aggravated domestic violence, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and four counts each of pointing and presenting a firearm.
Deputies say the victim is out of surgery, but his current condition was not immediately known.
Sarratt is also in the hospital just before 7 p.m. Friday for injuries he claims he received.
